An often-asked question that must be considered when it comes to Consumer Safety!
1. First off, it is the Law that contractors in Nevada are required to be licensed by the State of Nevada.
2. Being license provides safety factors for the consumer.
3. Licensed contractors by law must carry Liability and Compensation Insurance to protect your home from damages, and it protects you against medical liability if a worker gets injured while on your property.
4. The Contractor’s Board oversees the contractor and consumer relationship if any thing goes wrong. Simply making a written report to the board and they investigate. There is NO charge to you for this service. If they find the work was not to industry standards the contractor must make corrections or face fines and possibly lose their license. You do not get this protection when hiring a non-licensed contractor.
Homeowners who use unlicensed contractors, “ARE NOT ELIGIBLE” FOR THE RESIDENTIAL RECOVERY FUND”! By law a contract with an unlicensed contractor is: NULL AND VOID!
Which simply means you cannot take an unlicensed contractor to court for any damages.
