Tortoiseshell is not for those sticklers for realism, bear in mind that his substance has always been very rare & only available in small pieces, a faux tortoiseshell wall will be faux indeed, the other examples of tortoiseshell is my version of what it looks like but not the tradition version, either way the look is eye-catching.
